One of my favorite days ... my wedding day. Markius and I were married on April 26, 2008, in what had to be the most perfect wedding for us. We were married on the lawn of a cabin on top of a mountain in Wears Valley. We rented a large cabin so friends and family could stay with us and come and go throughout the weekend. The day began stormy and, although everyone was trying to talk me into moving things inside, I said to wait - that there was still a chance. We ended up with beautiful weather!
Our ceremony took place on the back lawn of the cabin overlooking Wears Valley - with the most breathtaking views! The cabin and lawn were all decked out in white and pink and cabin decor, which everyone pitched in to help do (Thank you Lora, Kris, Scott, Mom, grandma, Jan, Tammy - sorry to leave anyone out!). Markius' five-year-old ran around and provided comic relief to the ceremony - which people are still talking about! We exchanged personal vows, took lots of pictures, had an hors d'ouvres reception fo everyone and a private dinner for family in the evening.
We danced to Norah Jones - Nearness of You, our song. The one that still gives me goose bumps.
It was imperfect, but it was exactly us. It was relaxed. We enjoyed every minute of the day. And, after so many hurdles, two people finally found each other and promised to love forever. And ... I think it is true!
Thank you to everyone who attended and to those who sent best wishes. We love you.
And, honey ... it WILL always be this way.
